Are you an experienced Linux Administrator looking for an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge projects for a world-leading financial group? Our client, one of the top financial institutions globally with a 350-year history and offices in over 50 countries, is seeking a talented Linux Administrator to join their dynamic team.
The Role: As a Linux Administrator, you'll be responsible for managing, maintaining, and enhancing *nix related technologies across the organization's estate. You'll play a crucial role in project delivery and be part of a team providing 24x7 *nix support internationally. This position offers the opportunity to implement automated solutions that adhere to the department's strategic goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver project and investment-related workloads according to plans and defined budgets
- Participate in the team rota, including on-call and weekend working
- Identify and implement savings through automation (Service Now -> AWX -> Ansible / scripting)
- Maintain Linux platforms ensuring high availability, reliability, security, and performance
- Provide technical support and consultancy to application support and development teams
- Execute disaster recovery procedures and participate in regular DR tests
- Ensure patches and security updates are applied as per defined policies
Required Skills and Experience:
- In-depth knowledge of Red Hat and Solaris, including system internals and kernel tuning
- Expertise in Red Hat Satellite, Ansible, AWX, and REST API integration
- Strong scripting skills (Python, Perl, Bash)
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automation concepts
- Proficiency in Git and security hardening principles
- Excellent knowledge of networking, storage, database, and virtualization layers
- Experience with clustering, high-availability technologies, and disaster recovery
Desirable Skills:
- Service Now automation/integration
- Experience with GitHub, Subversion, and TeamCity
- Knowledge of CyberArk, Splunk, QRadar, and Qualys
- Familiarity with cloud computing (Azure, AWS, GCP, Oracle)
