Head of Data Science

Location: Braunschweig

One of the largest clothing retailers in Europe is looking for a Head of Data Science where you will lead a team of 12. They have over 1,000 stores across Europe & Asia, grossed +€4 billion last year and are looking to continue their success with you.

The position:

• Lead the implementation of impactful data science projectsg. demand prediction, ML development, assortment optimisation, future use case development
• Ensuring suitable architecture from data pipelines to model deployment.
• Manage and mentor a team of 12 data scientists
• Collaborate with other departments to translate their requirements into technical solutions.
• Present project outcomes effectively to senior management.
• Oversee recruiting, personnel planning, and foster a performance-driven, value-creation culture within the team.
• Enhance team efficiency through mentoring and professional development.

Your experience:

• Degree in mathematics, statistics, computer science, physics, or a related field.
• 6+ years of professional experience in data science
• 2+ years in leadership or management position
• Ideally experience in retail, fashion, consumer goods or similar industry
• Strong stakeholder management skills, used to working with upper management and C-Level
• Practical experience with (or similar):
  • Python, Git, Linux command line, and ideally Spark and Kubernetes
  • Open-source machine learning libraries (e.g., scikit-learn, PyTorch)
  • Statistical packages (e.g., Jupyter, Pandas)
  • Big data technologies (e.g., Spark, Hadoop)
• Business Fluent in German and English
